Admissions Procedures

GENERAL ADMISSIONS CRITERIA

Students seeking admission are evaluated as based on their preadmissions test scores, report cards, standardized test scores, references, admission questionnaires, interviews, and the potential to perform satisfactorily at Living Word Christian Academy.

We as educators expect each student to work diligently toward a common goal of excellence in behavior, academics, social and emotional development, creativity and artistry, Biblical study, and on-going self-pursuit of knowledge and learning. Parents are required to hold positive expectations for their children by reinforcing good study habits and exhibiting sincere appreciation for student effort.

For entering students, grades K-8, academic testing will be done at the time of the parent and student interview. Living Word Christian Academy is not equipped with the resources required to serve children who are seeking admittance into special education programs; and students who seek admission directly following suspension, expulsion or behavior problems from another school will not be permitted to apply until they prove themselves elsewhere. Students with less than a “C” average in their primary academic subjects may have difficulty in attaining a satisfactory level of academic achievement. The first six weeks is considered a trial period for all new students.

PRESCHOOL ADMISSIONS:

Students entering our three-year-old preschool program must be three years old and toilet trained on or before September 1st of the academic year they are applying. Children entering the four-year-old program must be four years of age on or before September 1st. All children entering school must be toilet trained. A copy of the student’s birth certificate is required for all preschool applicants.

KINDERGARTEN ADMISSIONS:

On entering kindergarten the child must be five years of age on or before September 1st to be eligible for admittance in September of that year. All students will be screened to ascertain their readiness for the kindergarten program. A copy of the student’s birth certificate is required for kindergarten applicants.

FIRST GRADE ADMISSIONS:

All students entering the first grade must be six years of age on or before September 1st.

Living Word Christian Academy admits students of any race, color, sex, and national or ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, or national or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies or practices, admissions policies, and athletic and other school-administered programs. Living Word Christian Academy reserves the right to select students on the basis of academic performance, religious commitment, philosophical compatibility, and willingness to cooperate with the Living Word Christian Academy administration and abide by its policies.
