Welcome Back!
I hope your summer was exciting, refreshing and restful. Now, we are back and off to the races once again. Excitement is in the air and the news is buzzing all around…

Why, you may ask? Well, think about it; New Principal, New Teachers, New School Year! However, You are victorious!

Our Theme for this school year 2011-2012 is, “We Are Champions!”

A champion never complain!
A champion never gives up!
A champion never quits!
All Champions do is Win, Win, Win!
I want to offer some positive tips and suggestions as the School Counselor for both LWCA students and parents.

Ten Study Tips for LWCA Students

  1. Select a consistent place to study.
  2. Don’t wait until the last minute to study.
  3. Buy an agenda book and use it.
  4. Dedicate a space for every class in your book bag.
  5. Stay organized throughout the year.
  6. Make study cards.
  7. Make your own study guide.
  8. Talk about assignments with friends.
  9. If you are struggling, ask for help.
  10. Make academics a focus in your life.

To LWCA Parents:
Research states that parents/caregivers have the most influence in the life of a child. Feelings of being loved, respected, and guided by parents shapes learning, fosters security and impacts school success. Research also suggests that parents are the most powerful and valuable allies to classroom teachers.

Parents, We Need You!


Here are some helpful tips that LWCA Parents should always remember…

  1. Students whose parent’s talks to their teachers do better in school.
  2. Approach the teacher(s) with cooperation in mind.
  3. Look to tackle issues/problems head on. Don’t let them build into bigger problems.
  4. Let the teacher know that you need them.
  5. Respect the school/classroom rules and teach your children to do the same.
  6. Hold your child accountable to All LWCA school/classroom expectations.
  7. Remind your child’s teacher that you are committed to the journey not just the destination.
  8. Maintain open and frequent communication with your child’s teacher.
