"I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me" (Philippians 4:16 KJV)

Our Philosophy on Education

A Christ-centered education is Living Word Christian Academy’s (LWCA) model for training and developing the spirit, mind, and body of all children (Matthew 22:37-38). We believe that God has given the Body of Christ at LWCA the mandate to “train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). Educational training includes providing a Christian learning environment that has at its center Biblical truths which children will embrace to function proactively in the world around them. Christ states that we as Christians are the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matthew 5:13-14).

The Body of Christ has been given truth and wisdom to educate at the highest level (Colossians 2:3). We adhere to Biblical standards of excellence in education. The faculty at LWCA is not only endowed with proper training, credentials and expertise, but also demonstrates mature Christian character as role models (Galatians 5:22-23).

The curriculum in a Christian school, while carefully chosen, must also be fundamentally grounded in the Word of God. The curriculum consists of language arts and literature, mathematics, science, history, geography, music, computer and high technological application, leadership and social emotional competency. While each area of the curriculum equips students to successfully compete in the general society, learning within LWCA instills them with the power of God to act in accordance with God’s promises, “Ye are the head and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath” (Deuteronomy 28:13).

In order to maximize learning opportunities, children must be taught at an early age how to read with understanding, how to think about information and how to aptly apply learned material in everyday life. This educational process includes parents as a critical component in having positive expectations for their children’s’ education (Deuteronomy 6:6-7).

We acknowledge that a Christian education will provide encouragement, support and a comprehensive education to the individual student. It will address each student’s unique abilities, gifts and talents bestowed on them by God; and that they will love the Lord God fully with the whole heart, soul and mind (Matthew 22:37-38).
